WORKPLACE SAFETY AND CONDUCT POLICY

IMPORTANT NOTICE

This Workplace Safety and Conduct Policy forms part of the Immense Contractors Induction Program and must be read and understood by all workers and subcontractors before commencing work.


1. Purpose

This policy ensures the safety, professionalism, and legal compliance of all workers, subcontractors, and visitors at Immense Contractors worksites. It sets clear expectations for conduct, responsibilities, and protection of company assets.


2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All employees of Immense Contractors

  • All subcontractors

  • Any visitors or third parties present on Immense Contractors worksites


3. Housekeeping and Site Safety

3.1 Clean Work Areas

  • Work areas must always remain clean, tidy, and free of hazards.

  • Walkways, doorways, and emergency exits must remain clear.

  • Extension cords, hoses, and similar items must be secured to avoid tripping hazards.

3.2 Daily Clean-Up

  • Workers and subcontractors are required to:

    • Remove debris, off-cuts, and rubbish during and at the end of each day.

    • Return tools and equipment to proper storage locations.

    • Leave all areas safe and hazard-free before leaving the site.


4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Policy

  • All workers and subcontractors must wear appropriate PPE as required by Immense Contractors or relevant safety laws. This includes:

    • Safety boots

    • High-visibility clothing

    • Gloves

    • Safety glasses

    • Hearing protection where required

  • Workers must maintain PPE in good condition and replace damaged items immediately. Failure to wear PPE may result in removal from the worksite.


5. Manual Handling & Safe Work Practices

  • Workers must:

    • Plan lifts in advance.

    • Keep loads close to the body.

    • Seek assistance for heavy or awkward loads.

    • Use mechanical lifting aids where possible.

  • Any manual handling injuries must be reported immediately.


6. Tools and Equipment Responsibilities

  • Company tools and equipment must be:

    • Used safely and correctly.

    • Returned to designated storage after use.

    • Maintained in good condition, with faults reported immediately.

  • Workers and subcontractors:

    • Are responsible for any loss or damage due to negligence or misuse.

    • May be required to pay for repairs or replacement of damaged tools or equipment.


7. Loss of Tools Policy

  • Workers and subcontractors must secure their own personal tools and equipment on site.

  • Immense Contractors is not responsible for personal tools or equipment that are lost, stolen, or damaged on site.

  • Any company tools lost due to negligence must be replaced or paid for by the responsible worker or subcontractor.


8. Use of Company Property & IT Policy

  • Company tools, vehicles, computers, and devices must only be used for authorised business purposes.

  • Workers and subcontractors must:

    • Protect company property from theft or damage.

    • Not download unauthorised software.

    • Not access inappropriate websites using company devices.


9. Environmental Policy

  • Immense Contractors is committed to reducing environmental impacts. Workers must:

    • Dispose of waste materials correctly.

    • Avoid pollution and spills.

    • Minimise use of hazardous substances wherever practical.


10. Company Vehicles, Fines, and Insurance Excess

  • Drivers of company vehicles, whether employees or subcontractors:

    • Must hold a valid driver’s licence.

    • Must operate vehicles safely and legally.

  • Any:

    • Traffic infringements (fines, penalties, etc.)

    • Parking fines

    • Insurance excess costs
      resulting from negligent or unlawful operation of a company vehicle will be the responsibility of the employee or subcontractor involved.

  • Immense Contractors reserves the right to recover these costs from wages, outstanding invoices, or security retention.


11. Phone Use Policy

  • Personal mobile phone use is not permitted while actively working, especially:

    • Operating tools, machinery, or vehicles.

    • Working at heights or in hazardous areas.

  • Personal calls, texts, or browsing must be limited to:

    • Break times

    • Emergency situations.

  • Taking photos or videos on site is prohibited unless authorised by management.

  • Breaches may result in disciplinary action or removal from the site.


12. Drug and Alcohol Policy (South Australia)

Immense Contractors maintains a zero-tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol on all worksites.

  • Workers and subcontractors must not:

    • Attend work under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

    • Use, possess, distribute, or sell illegal substances at work.

  • Random drug and alcohol testing may be conducted at management’s discretion.

  • Breaches of this policy may result in:

    • Removal from the site.

    • Termination of employment or subcontractor agreements.

    • Notification to relevant authorities.


13. Fit for Work Policy

  • Workers and subcontractors must present themselves fit for work every day, meaning:

    • Well-rested

    • Free from the effects of drugs or alcohol

    • Physically able to safely perform assigned tasks

  • Workers unfit for work may be removed from site and may be required to provide medical clearance before returning.


14. Discrimination, Bullying & Harassment Policy

  • Immense Contractors maintains a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination, bullying, and harassment.

  • Workers must:

    • Treat others with respect at all times.

    • Not engage in offensive, intimidating, or abusive behaviour.

  • Complaints will be investigated promptly. Disciplinary action will apply for breaches.


15. Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

  • Workers and subcontractors must keep confidential any business information, client details, or trade secrets learned during their work with Immense Contractors.

  • Breaches of confidentiality may result in disciplinary action, termination of engagement, or legal proceedings.


16. COVID-19 and Infectious Disease Policy

  • Workers must:

    • Stay home if unwell.

    • Follow all government health directives.

    • Cooperate with any site-specific health protocols.

  • Workers refusing to follow health requirements may be removed from the worksite.


17. Emergency Procedures

  • Workers must:

    • Familiarise themselves with site emergency evacuation plans.

    • Stop work immediately during an emergency.

    • Follow the site supervisor’s instructions.

    • Evacuate safely to designated assembly areas.

    • Not re-enter until authorised.


18. Heat Stress and Extreme Weather

  • Workers must:

    • Stay hydrated during hot weather.

    • Take additional breaks as needed in extreme heat.

    • Cease work if conditions become unsafe due to heat, storms, or high winds.

  • Immense Contractors reserves the right to stop work for safety reasons in extreme weather.


19. Social Media and Media Policy

  • Workers and subcontractors must not:

    • Post images, videos, or information about Immense Contractors projects on social media without prior approval.

    • Make public statements on behalf of Immense Contractors.

  • Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action.


20. Site-Specific Inductions

  • Workers and subcontractors must:

    • Complete all site-specific inductions before starting work.

    • Follow any additional rules specific to individual job sites.


21. Customer Interaction Policy

  • Workers and subcontractors must:

    • Be polite and professional with clients at all times.

    • Never argue with clients on site.

    • Report customer complaints to management immediately.


22. Security Policy

  • Workers and subcontractors must:

    • Secure tools and equipment when unattended.

    • Lock vehicles and storage areas when leaving the site.

    • Report suspicious activity or theft immediately.


23. Incident Reporting

  • All incidents, including:

    • Injuries

    • Near misses

    • Property damage

    • Equipment failures

  • Must be reported immediately to the Director or Site Supervisor.

  • A written Incident Report must be completed on the same day wherever possible.


24. Sick Leave Notification Policy

  • Any employee unable to attend work due to illness or injury must:

    • Notify Immense Contractors by telephone at least two (2) hours before their scheduled start time.

    • Text messages are not acceptable for sick leave notification.

  • A medical certificate or statutory declaration must be provided in accordance with Fair Work laws if:

    • The absence exceeds one day.

    • Management requests evidence for any absence.

  • Consideration may not be given to sick leave claims without the required documentation.

  • Repeated non-compliance with this policy may result in disciplinary action.


25. Corrective Action

Failure to comply with this policy may result in:

  • Disciplinary action

  • Removal from the worksite

  • Termination of employment or subcontractor relationship

  • Financial recovery of costs or damages


26. Policy Enforcement

  • This Workplace Safety and Conduct Policy applies to all employees, subcontractors, and visitors of Immense Contractors.

  • Compliance with this policy is mandatory as a condition of employment or engagement, regardless of whether an individual has signed an acknowledgement form.

  • Immense Contractors reserves the right to enforce this policy and take disciplinary action, including removal from worksites, termination of contracts, or recovery of costs for any breaches.


27. Review

This policy will be reviewed annually, or earlier if:

  • A workplace incident occurs requiring review.

  • Legal requirements change.

  • Management determines an update is necessary.
